Now that the Nikon Z8 has been released, one would think there would be more pressure on Canon to get their product to market. It appears that an announcement for this camera may come in quarter 4 of 2023. If that does happen, it's not clear how much longer after that they would start shipping.
 
Key specs that stand out to us: $4300, better IBIS, better battery situation, faster sensor readout (better rolling shutter), image quality probably marginally better, better AF, etc. Really, this is just what the R5 should have been. If you're in the Canon ecosystem it might make sense but I'd also look really hard at the cheaper Z8 and other options to make sure you're getting good value for the money.
 

In this video we get the first hints from people who have actually used this camera that while the quality of life of using this camera is much better than the R5 the image quality isn't that much better. At least that's how we're reading behind the lines.
