We had posted about this lens quite a while ago but in September in finally was announced.

Key specifications:
  • f/1.8 to f/16
  • Round bokeh across entire field prioritized
  • ED, SR, and aspherical elements
  • Programmable linear focus ring
  • Customizable control ring
  • ARNEO and Meso Amorphous coatings
  • Dust-and Water-Resitant
  • 82mm filter
  • 0.2x maximum magnification
  • 16 Elements in 14 Groups
  • 11 rounded aperture blades
  • 2.2 lb or 995g (basically 1kg)
  • $2500
So heavy, expensive but good. This is what we expected. It will be interesting to see how it compares to its peers.

It seems like this lens's secret sauce is a significant reduction in vignetting and the bokeh remains circular towards the edges. So they must have made the image circle larger than the sensor. It's a nice method to improve quality.

I wish Nikon had a more video centric body as damn, some of these lenses they are putting out are fire. I know, I know, there is the Z8 and Z9 but they have some compromises as they're designed as a do-it-all kind of camera. I won't deny though, they are viable options on the video front. They just don't meet my needs right now.
