Mirrorless cameras were supposed to produce small and light cameras. Sony's first mirrorless cameras were shockingly small and light. But as mirrorless has progressed, and as the need for recording video for sustained periods without over heating has become more important, mirrorless cameras have gotten larger and larger.

Some people like the larger cameras and feel their size and ergonomics are more suitable for long sessions. Others pine for a small and competent camera body.

At Gear Rumors we like choice. So it's always great when a company gives us a normal sized camera and then releases a compact version. This is what Panasonic have done with their S9. It's the S5 II sensor is a smaller and lighter body. And the price is $1500. Great move, Panasonic.
