iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus

Today Apple announced the $799 6.1-inch iPhone 16 and the $899 6.7-inch iPhone 16 Plus.  Both start with 128gb of storage.  The main new feature, besides an allegedly 30% faster processor, is the Camera Control capability on the side of the devices.  Also featured is improved AI and Wi-Fi 7 support.  Well we’re not wowed by these phones, they are a solid incremental upgrade from Apple and as is often the case, you shouldn’t be disappointed by either.

Samsung Galaxy A55

Some leaks about the Samsung Galaxy A55 appeared on TENAA website.  This indicates an imminent release, likely in the summer.  This phone looks a bit different with rectangular features and a key island for controls.  It features triple rear cameras and it looks like it will equipped with a Samsung Exynos 1480 processor and a nice, large 5,000mAh battery.

We don’t know much else at this point.

Google Pixel 9 Design Leak

It’s an okay looking phone.  The Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro smartphones are expected this year.  We are expecting a possible announcement or teaser at the September’s Made By Google event and then possible sale of these phones in October.

There is still lots of time before launch so the information that we have now is quite preliminary.

Nothing Phone 2a

The Nothing company has stated:

With Phone (2a), we’ve really doubled down on the core user needs – performance, camera, you name it. And it’s also kind of leveraging some of the most loved features of the Phone (2) while ensuring it delivers on a clear upgrade compared to Phone (1) on every front.

But keep in mind this is within the context of trying to create a budget Android phone with attractive specifications, including:

  • 6.7-inch AMOLED with FHD+ screen
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset
  • Options for 8gb or 12gb of ram
  • Options for 128gb or 256gb of storage
  • $400 price (approximate and not confirmed)

You can visit the Nothing website for more information about the company.
